Intel gut-punches Apple by hiring engineer that ‘led transition’ from Intel-based Macs to Apple Silicon

There is a mighty tug-of-war happening between the world’s largest chipmakers, and it is not only for prospects. Prime employees will at all times be the distinction maker, and Intel and Apple are always duking it out for the most effective engineering brains. This time Jeff Wilcox, as soon as director of Mac system structure, is heading again to Intel to hitch the Fellow and Design Engineering Group as chief technical officer.

That is certain to be an enormous blow for its Cupertino-based competitor, as Wilcox “led the transition for all Macs to Apple Silicon starting with M1 chip”, as his LinkedIn profile describes (by way of Tom’s Hardware).
